CBI agents were on-site, and though they didn’t offer much information, they did reveal the weapon used: a haladie—a rare, double-edged dagger originating from ancient Syria and India, once wielded by the Rajput warriors. It was believed to be one of the world’s first triple-edged blades.
Cloe excused herself and retreated to her scheduled radio meeting with Mr. Put, hoping the conversation would bring some clarity. After logging into her secure radio channel, she received a new message:
“Shree truth, save Maharaja, investigate, hack track locate, save Indians.”
Mr. Put’s message, though terse, was clear. The Maharaja was already dead, but the rest of the message spoke to something larger at stake—something about the truth Shree held and the potential for more lives to be saved.
Cloe knew now that she needed to return to Shree. She had to convince her of the urgency of the situation and make her see that this wasn’t just some hoax. Innocent lives were at risk, and the case was far deeper than she had realized.
Determined, Cloe made arrangements for a meeting with Shree, this time under the guise of discussing an internship opportunity. When they met in the foyer, Shree immediately tried to walk away, but Cloe stopped her, promising only the truth.
“I am a detective, Shree. I need your help to solve this case. I don’t know about your wooden box or where Dev might be, but I do know that my employer sent it to you. There are international secrets involved here—secrets I can’t reveal just yet. But I can tell you this: the Maharaja of Jodhpur died this morning. We need to investigate his death further.”
This time, Shree believed her. “My classes are done for the day. Where do we start?”
And so, the investigation into the death of the Maharaja—and the deeper mystery surrounding Shree—was about to unfold.
